Hey, don't you know that we're off to see the world?

Oh man.

I spent last night watching old movies from my childhood, including The Chipmunk Adventure and The Brave Little Toaster. I've also been looking up my favorite 90s cartoon shows like Rocko's Modern Life.

I shouldn't be nostalgic during finals week. :)

MOTHER 3

So, random post to show that I'm alive.

Basically, I finished playing Mother 3 a long time ago, but I never posted about it.

...

MOTHER 3 IS THE BEST GAME EVER.

Most people will know it better as the sequel to Earthbound and/or the game Lucas is from.

Unfortunately, Nintendo is full of shit and refuses to release it outside of Japan, so you'll have to download the ROM, an emulator (I suggest Visual Boy) and this fan-made translation patch which was in development for TWO YEARS.

Anyway, if you're looking for an RPG game that will make you laugh and cry, you should play it.

COLLEGE POST

So, the results are in:

Northeastern University - Waitlisted
Bentley College - Waitlisted
Roger Williams University - Accepted
Suffolk University - Accepted
Salve Regina University - Accepted
Western New England College - Accepted (Honors + Masters programs)
UMass Amherst - Accepted (Commonwealth College <-- honors college)

I'm going to storm Northeastern and demand acceptance. :)

This one person got accepted into their most competitive majors with SAT scores about 200 points less than mine, hardly any honors classes or extracurricular activities, etc.

They got 36,000+ applications for only 2,800 spots. That's life. :(

ANYWAY, I didn't really care about UMass but I got into their Commonwealth College, which is apparently great. Their 50% average for students accepted have a 1326 SAT (not including the writing section!), 4.0, and are in the top 7% of their class. They also have tons of benefits for honors students (first pick for classes, they arrive early on campus, separate honors housing if you want, etc.)

So yeah, if I can't get into Northeastern I'm seriously considering UMass Amherst. My oldest sister went their and loved it, so she's kinda pushing for it. I think she thinks it's outrageous that I might spend one year at another college for about $45,000 when I can just got to UMass for less than $18,000.

I think it's funny that my biggest reason for not wanting to go is my pride. I always thought I'd go to a private college, but Commonwealth College seems like a great opportunity.

But damn, I wish Northeastern accepted me.

Celebrities love my mom

So, Ben Afleck, Jennifer Garner, and "Little Violet" were in Formaggio's today. (For those of you who don't know, Formaggio's is the gourmet food store where my mom works in the bakery.)

ANYWAY, my mom could care less about celebrities. While everyone else was freaking out, my mom was just minding her own business when Ben Afleck says, "Great coffee."

It is a rather well known fact that my mother makes the greatest cup of coffee in the universe, and people complain when she doesn't make the coffee there since it never tastes the same.

Now I have the right to say, "Ben Afleck loves my mom's coffee!"

Too bad I don't like Ben Afleck.

P.S. If you are wondering who the incredibly sexy, sexy boy is on my icon, it is David Archuleta -- the boy wonder on American Idol this season! He is incredibly talented and good hearted, and he had to overcome vocal paralysis. VOTE FOR HIM. HE MUST WIN.

I am still hurting from when Melinda Doolittle was voted off last season, but now I seem to be healing with every new performance by David.

Updates

Guess what I'm doing right now?

I'M USING MY NEW LAPTOP.

My brother got it cheap by using his Harvard discount, so it didn't cost over $3,000! HAHAHAHA.

I have the entire Adobe suite, too. I can't do graphic design again!!

And in other news~~

Although I am still praying every day that I get accepted by Northeastern, Western New England College accepted me and offered a $50,000 scholarship for over 4 (or 5, if I get my Masters) years. They also said that they'll offer more money once they process my FASFA. So, the worst case scenario is that I go to school for (basically) free the first year and then transfer to Northeastern if I don't get in the first time.

I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get into Northeastern -- 35,000 people applied this year for a class of 2,800 (although they accept about 35-40% because they understand that not everyone will enroll.)

I'm in their average for GPA and SAT scores, plus I have 98749234 (okay, maybe not tat much) extracurricular things. I think being a vocational student is going to add to my application A LOT.

So, I'm majoring in communications and I want to concentrate in...

BROADCAST JOURNALISM.

Egads!

Update time!

I HAVE A PS3. And it is delicious.

Here's my review so farrrrrrrr~

So, I wasn't expecting it at all. My mom said that because they were getting me a laptop that I wouldn't be getting it. And they got it. Hahaha, they always do that.

Because they got me the 80 GB version, it came with MotorStorm :) But they bought me Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and Sonic the Hedgehog.

I wish I could have gotten the 60 GB version though (it was discontinued), because it came with the PS2 hardware in it. Instead, the 80 GB version uses the Emotion Engine to emulate PS2 hardware, and unfortunately it's not compatible for all PS2 games. Sony did this to make the PS3 cheaper.

Anyway, the new Ratchet and Clank game is one opf the greatest games in the universe. It's fun, hilarious, and actually has a semi-serious story. Plus, it's absolutely gorgeous. I'm not really sure what else to say except that I loooooooooooooove ittttttttttttt.

Which is completely opposite of the Sonic game, which might be the crappiest game I've ever played. And the weirdest.

So, it starts out with this Final Fantasy-esque CG movie, and all of a sudden THERE'S SONIC. And he looks so weird in it. And then you actually get to the gameplay where the graphics are sub-par and the people of the city look like... everyday people in a magical kingdom. As my sister best put it, "It looks like it was made by three different companies." The game has terrible loading times and has to load for just about everything. One time it had to load for five minutes for a scene that only lasted two seconds long, only to go to another loading screen. The game is insanely glitchy and the saving system is stupid. However, the game is great to invite friends over and laugh at, so it somewhat redeems itself. I guess it was the chepaest PS3 game there at $20.

I haven't tried MotorStorm yet, but my friend loves it.

I tried testing out my old PS and PS2 games. My results thus far:

Apparently all PS games work on it. :)

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando (Haven't tired the first game yet) -- Ummm, totally did not work at all.
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal -- Game played like it was in slow motion! But everything else worked perfectly.
Psychonauts -- Despite the game's glitchiness, the PS3 improved it and the framerate tremendously. Also, because of the upscaling the graphics look a lot better. The only downside is that some of the movie sequnces have parts of the dialog that repeat.
Tekken 4: Not compatible.
Tekken 5: Compatible, but the screen is shaky.
Kingdom Hearts II: Works absolutely perfectly, but looks even better. :)

That's all I've checked so far, but I plan on checking all my Jak games tonight and maybe some other ones if I get around to it.

Although I wish my PS3 had the PS2 hardware in it, Sony releases downloadable updates and eventually all the glitchiness should be gone.

Overall I am very very pleased~~~

And I have yet to connect my PSP to it because the charger is broken :(

It's Official

My favorite movie of all time is Hairspray (the recent musical one).

You have no idea how many times I've watched it/watched it over and over and over again with my mom/randomly burst out into song in the past week.

Time to finish work now! Yay!

EDIT: FYI, I never got my PS3, hahaha.

lasdkfjasldkfjsd college

Applying to college is annoying.

Top choices:
Northeastern University: Business administration communications!
Bentley College: Information design and corporate communication

I really want to do a 5-year program to get my Masters and have it all done with, hahaha. Northeastern is already a 4 or 5 year program depending on how much co-op you decide to do. I could always do a dual-major or something.

Others:
Boston University (my sister got her Masters here)
Providence College (I hear good things)
Suffolk University (as a safety, but I hear that many people who go there are very, very happy)
Western New England College (another safety, but they have some great business programs.)

Ultimately, I want to be practical about this. Why go to So-and-So college if I can get the same education somewhere else for cheaper? But I also want to be happy, and I visited Northeastern today and WOW, it was GORGEOUS. Plus, on studentsreview.com it has the most positive student reviews out of any other college I'm interested in/seen on that site. I know I'll be happy there AND get a "real world" education, something so many people lack.

Plus I'll be doing co-op for high school anyway, so I think I'll have a slight advantage :)

*sigh*

I just want to be DONE with college applications. I should've been done by them in time for early action, BUT NOOOOOO.

Oh well, not the end of the world. :)

After college my plan is to become a terrifyingly powerful business woman (who uses her powers for the Greater Good, of course) and live "happily ever after." (DON'T TELL ME TO BE MORE REALISTIC. I'm serious!)

EDIT: I decided that a Masters in business is much better than an undergraduate degree. It's better to get that in something else, and communications really interests me :)

OMFGOMFGOFMGFOGMFGM

Mom: Uh, we were gonna buy you a PS3 tomorrow as your birthday present.
Me: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT WHAT WHAT

She had to tell me because of all that 40GB/60GB/80GB confusion.

But anyway. AHHHHHHHH! :)

I feel guilty since it's so expensive but in her words: Extra money, not extra work.
(Meaning that my sister's dog has made her want to jump off a cliff.)

Gah. I feel like such a spoiled bitch.

...

I *am* spoiled, but I'm not a bitch. I'm thankful for everything I get. And basically, I'm pretty much done wanting anything until I get a laptop (which I NEED for college) for Christmas.

Life is good.

(And FYI since I'm sure someone's gonna be all "OMG THE PS3 SUCKS WHAT WASTE OF MONEY HAHAHA WII IS SO MUICH BETTER," your opinion is your opinion. Just like you I wouldn't be happy with a PS3, I wouldn't be happy with a Wii or Xbox 360, so we're even and just be happy for me.)
